When you contact me
When you call or email, I use your name, your contact details and what you tell me to reply and to arrange an appointment. My email runs through Microsoft’s Outlook.com. You do not need to describe your concerns in a first message; we would rather talk about them in a session. If no sessions follow, I keep your details no longer than needed to deal with your question.
If you start sessions with me
As a clinical psychologist, I keep a patient file, as the law requires of healthcare professionals. Everything you confide in me is covered by professional secrecy. I share information with others only with your consent or when the law requires it. I keep your file for as long as the law prescribes. You have the right to see your file and to receive a copy, as set out in the Belgian Patients’ Rights Act.
Your rights
You can ask which data I hold about you, have it corrected or erased, or have its processing restricted or object to it, insofar as the law allows. Send me an email to do so. If you are not satisfied with how I handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
